In 2014 I came across the opportunity to follow a course tought at the Royal Dutch Institute in Room for 2 weeks. It was course to learn more about the heritage in Rome and to discuss ways of dealing with this heritage in a contemporary setting. More can be found by clicking on this link: Roma Caput Mundi (Dutch).
I ended up having a amazing and informative time in Rome. I met classicists who were studying in every city in the Netherlands and enjoyed spending time with them. We still ocassionally have a Rome-reunion. To end the course I wrote a paper on the managment of fascist heritage at the football stadiums of Lazio Roma and AS Roma. Really interesting to witness how the way you go to a football match changes when you are looking to the heritage instead of the football itself.
