My second week at the OrangeASEAN Factory program. We moved from the Singapore Managment University (SMU) to the Unilever Asia HQ. Different place, same work!
Our new office!
The first weekend in Singapore got kickstarted on Friday when we got invited to see the movie; nooit meer slapen (beyond sleep), a movie based on the famous Dutch novel by W.F. Hermans. The movie was okay, nothing spectacular but that might change when you have read the book. I haven’t. See the trailer below!
The day after was our last day at SMU and after a morning full of work we did a social activity to foster group bonding. We played crazy88 in groups of three. Basically what crazy88 is, is running around throughout Singapore doing weird things to score point. For instance: taking a photo as a mannequin, in a baby stroller or on the 14th floor of a building. After the crazy88 and dinner the whole group went to the Bingo players DJing in a club in the Marina Bay building. The most iconic building in Singapore. At its opening in 2010, it was billed as the world’s most expensive standalone
After the Crazy88 and dinner, the whole group went to the Bingo players DJing in a club in the Marina Bay building. The most iconic building in Singapore. At its opening in 2010, it was billed as the world’s most expensive standalone casino property at S$8 billion, including the land cost. The resort includes a 2,561-room hotel, a 120,000-square-metre (1,300,000 sq ft) convention-exhibition centre, the 74,000 m2 (800,000 sq ft) The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, two large theatres, “celebrity chef” restaurants, two floating Crystal Pavilions, a skating rink, and the world’s largest atrium casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot machines.
On Sunday it was time to relax after a stressful and busy week. We decided to go to one of Singapore’s many islands. Photos from our trip to Lazarus and St. Johns Island below!
On Monday a new week started but this time at the other side of Singapore. At the Unilever HQ. It is a nice coworking space but has crazy expensive coffee. Not so good for a coffeeholic like me. On Monday we also visited the Tiger brewery in Singapore. Tiger is a joint venture of Heineken International.
On Wednesday it was finally time to see one of Singapore’s most acclaimed tourist attractions. The lights show at gardens by the bay! Photos from the lights show below!
And so it is Friday again. Time for the progress presentations. Tonight we will go see startup pitch at the global conference of Get In The Ring. In the weekend a couple of us will go on a road trip through southern Malaysia! Looking forward to it!
Interesting photos from our dinner at a vegetarian restaurant in Little India!
